Hp officejet 5740 driver download windows 10
Have a new laptop with Windows 10 and can't add my HP Officejet series printer. The computer does see it but says Driver is Unavailable if you try to use it.
Had an error message saying the "computer has a policy that blocks NT 4. Followed it to the letter but it didn't fix the problem. Uninstalled software more than once , restarted and re-installed. Tried connecting through wireless, USB from printer to computer and Ethernet directly from router to printer, all to no avail. Keeps asking for a WPS Pin, finally found that in the router configuration. Every time I type the 8 digit pin into the box I get a message saying it doesn't work.
The printer shows up in the available networks list like its a separate network or something and it says it's "secured". Wants the WPS Pin too or the network security key password to connect, but it says they are wrong no matter which way I try to connect.
I checked the wireless setup on the printer and all is correct. I reset the printer to its default wireless settings not that those were ever changed in the first place and retyped the password in to set up its wireless. I also restored the router configuration to its original settings not that those were ever customized either. I followed the steps found on the HP website to add the Windows Update required to get the needed driver but that didn't fix it either.
To test I didn't screw anything up I printed a doc from hubby's computer and fired up my old laptop and also printed docs from the printer that's uncooperative with the new laptop. I've spent hours on this today.
I'm no IT person and I'm out of ideas. If there's anyone who can help me resolve this I will sure appreciate it. Right click the Start menu and select Run. Type Services.
